King David, a Dauphin 45 hull, is a Gaff Rigged Schooner, built in France by Pierre Leon Jean Vialla an Israeli boat builder who built King David in his backyard over a 25 year period. A law enforcement officer in France who methodically worked on this vessel in his spare time. At 82 years old, having only sailed the vessel one time from France to Gibraltar he decided to ship the boat here to South Florida as he couldn't stand to be away from King David that he had worked so hard on for so many years. Upon hearing the StreetWaves story and our desire to develop a Maritime Education Program for the StreetWaves participants he was so moved that he donated the vessel to StreetWaves. We promised to take care of the vessel and use it as a learning platform for under-exposed youth as an instrument to introduce our participants to the "Blue Economy". We welcome maritime industry tradespersons to volunteer their time and share their expertise with children in need of exposure to the many opportunities and "Salty Jobs" in our region. Feel free to reach out and share your talents with us. Ahoy and Aloha!!
